How to Make a PDF of Your CNIC and Documents on Your Phone
Job portals, universities, banks and visa forms increasingly ask for one PDF that contains your CNIC, degrees, transcripts or experience letters. You don’t need a scanner or a scanning app for that. A phone camera and a browser are enough, and with the tools below your documents never leave your phone.
Step 1: Photograph the documents properly
- Lay each page flat on a dark, plain surface — a contrasting background makes the edges clear.
- Use daylight or a bright room and turn the flash off to avoid glare, especially on the CNIC’s shiny surface.
- Hold the phone straight above the page so the document is a rectangle, not a trapezium.
- Take one photo per page, and both the front and the back of the CNIC.
Step 2: Crop the edges (optional)
If there is a lot of table or floor around the page, open the Aspect Ratio Cropper. Use 3:2 for the CNIC and a portrait ratio such as 2:3 for A4 pages, and position the frame around the document.
Step 3: Combine the images into one PDF
- Open Image to PDF and add all the photos at once.
- Put them in the right order — for example CNIC front, CNIC back, then degrees from oldest to newest.
- Choose A4 page size so the PDF prints properly, then download it.
Step 4: Make it fit the upload limit
Phone photos are large, so the first PDF can easily be 5–15 MB, while many forms accept only 1 or 2 MB. Open Compress PDF, add the file and choose a stronger setting until it fits. Text on a CNIC or a degree stays readable at surprisingly small sizes. Our guide on reducing PDF size for online forms has more tricks if it is still too big.
Step 5: Add documents you already have as PDFs
If your university or employer sent some documents as PDFs, use Merge PDF to join them with your scanned file in the order the form asks for.
Protect your CNIC copy
A clean CNIC copy can be misused, for example to register a SIM or open an account in your name. Before sending it anywhere, open Watermark PDF and stamp a line across every page such as “For ABC Company job application only — 25 Oct 2026”. The document stays readable for the person checking it, but the copy is useless for anything else.
Checklist before you upload
- All pages are present, upright and in order.
- The CNIC number, name and dates are readable when you zoom in.
- The file is under the size limit and has a clear name, such as
ali-khan-cnic-degrees.pdf.
